Oughtibridge Sports Night
The Tom Holmes Gala Chase

The Tom Holmes Gala Chase is named in honour of Tom Holmes who founded the Chase after being inspired by the route he and his dog used to walk on a daily basis.  Tom was a prominent member of the Village; serving on the committee for the Gala and Sports Night as well as Oughtibridge Brass band. 

The Chase commences in Coronation Park, proceeds up Station Lane/Jawbone Hill by road to Wharncliffe Woods, looping through the woods on compacted gravel paths before returning to finish back in the Park. The route is approximately 6km with 180m of ascent. The Junior Chase takes a shorter route through the woods and is just under 3km with 100m of ascent.

The event is held under UK Athletics Rules (Trail Running Association Licence Number 6246). The minimum age for entry to the Senior Chase is 16 years. Please note in accordance with UK Athletics rules this age restriction will be strictly applied. The minimum age for entry into the Junior Chase is 11 years.

The chase takes place whatever the weather!
