The Big Parade
The Oughtibridge Gala Parade takes place every year as the herald to the day's activities. Led by Oughtibridge Brass Band and our Gala royalty and featuring Oughtibridge Brownies, Branching Out Dancing School, Oughtibridge Samba band and many many more; the parade winds it's way through the village calling to everyone to join us for the gala. The parade reaches its climax at Coronation Park where our gala royalty will announce the opening of the main event.
The Parade Route
The Parade starts at the top of Birks wood Drive and heads down the hill turning left along Coward Drive, making a right onto Church Close, another right onto Church Street and straight down past Bridge Hill, over the bridge before finally turning into Coronation Park.
Everyone is welcome to join in the parade, either marching along to the music or standing at the side of the road cheering everyone on.
We encourage everyone to dress up and get into the spirit of that year's gala theme.
Children dressed up in the parade get into the Gala for free.
We encourage adults who are accompanying children in the parade to buy a programme in advance, so they don't have to stop at the park gate to buy one. Some programmes will be available to buy at Birks Wood Drive from a committee member before the parade sets off.
We meet at the top of Birks Wood Drive at 12.15 pm. The parade sets off from there at 12:30 and arrives at the park at 1 pm.
